We are able to offer all our normal examinations without needing to transfer from a wheelchair, within the Practice. Just mention that you are in a wheelchair when you book your appointment, for our best attention.
However if you are unable to attend the Practice due to illness or mobility problems we can arrange to examine your eyes in your own home. This examination will meet our usual high standard within the limitation of what equipment we can carry with us. Some of our supplementary tests are only available in the Practice.
What will a home visit cost me?
If you are entitled to an NHS eye examination there will be no charge. If you pay for private eye examinations you will need to pay for the examination AND the cost of the travelling.
Who will examine me?
Our domicilary visits are carried out normally by Ruth Low Bsc MCOptom.
What day do your normally make home visits?
We normally arrange visits on Friday mornings and we can be with you from 8.30am if you wish.
How can I arrange a domicilary visit?
Ring us on 01934 843713 or click here Contact Us and we will contact you or your carer.
Do I need to make special arrangements in my home?
- To give you the very best care all we need is a room with at least one 3-pin electrical socket, where the curtains can be drawn to exclude bright light.
- A small table and an upright chair for the Optometrist is very helpful.
- You can remain in your own comfort whether that is in bed or a chair.
- Please have a list of any medications you are taking and any current or recently prescribed spectacles or magnifiers that you have.
- It is also useful to have a history of your own Eye Hospital visits or operations.
